The De Tomaso Deauville was produced between 1970 and 1985 with a total of 244 of the Deauvilles being produced. The vehicle was produced as a competitor of the Jaguar XJ. While the Deauville had the speed capability of a sports car it was designed with a more conservative Businessman in mind. The Deauville was a unique compromise of sport and comfort.
The De Tomaso Deauville was not originally intended for sale in the United States Market and in fact never reached that market even with Fords efforts to study the possibilities of making that happen by combining the Deauville with a Ford Maverick V8 Drive train.
One other interesting point to mention. One model was thought up by the owner Mr. De Tomaso's wife as a vehicle to carry her dogs. The result was a custom made Deauville Station Wagon!
